TLR Program:
Challenge Course Facilitator Training

TLR's provides extensive facilitator education and development workshops. Through TLR's workshops, you are provided with a unique laboratory in which to discover, learn, and experiment with the many applications that outdoor experiential education offers.

What are the Benefits from Participating in a Facilitator Training Program?

TLR offers two facilitator training programs that are designed to actively engage participants in the learning process. Upon completion of a TLR Facilitator training program participants will have a clearer understanding of themselves, their relationships with others, and how that impacts their facilitation of group process. Self knowledge, a sound philosophy, and processing skills are the building blocks to effective facilitation. The potential for learning is limited only by your the amount of effort you put into the program.

Our Facilitator Training Programs are intended for managers, teachers, administrators, human service professionals and outdoor practitioners who are interested in learning the fundamentals of challenge training activities, group process, facilitation and application. The program is designed to lay a solid foundation for the development of safe effective, outdoor experiential programs for you and your clients.

About Certification:

Despite efforts to enact a set of standards applicable to all who participate in adventure education, currently there is no nationally recognized certification program. TLR's certification is recognized as valid on a par with any other train-the-trainer programs. We believe the quality of our training to be exceptional in the industry, however. Further information on certification requirements is available upon request.

Phase I - Low Elements

This four-day training program provides everything you will need to facilitate individual growth and group process improvement in outdoor experiential low element challenge course initiatives. The process provides an insight into outdoor experiential education to serve as a reference point for the facilitation role. It is a unique blend of theory and practice, with emphasis on your experience.

Explore the evolving dynamics of a group while experiencing the activity and its impact upon you as an individual. We believe that this is the most effective way to see the impact of experiential education and how it can profoundly effect and benefit your clients. In exploring these dynamics, you will be living the concepts of diversity, trust, risk-taking, vulnerability, and cooperation. Your level of investment and involvement will significantly impact the intensity and quality of your workshop.
