Program Enhancement Options
|
The following represent options that are used to enhance and support the program outcomes desired by some groups. |
Option:using the Team Effectiveness Questionnaire (TEQ) |
|
TLR recommends using an instrument to obtain information about what your team is currently doing in five categories of organizational life, namely:
Every member independently completes their personal assessment of these five aspects with a fifty item True-or-False Team Effectiveness Questionnaire (T.E.Q.). The survey can be completed in about twenty minutes and is submitted anonymously by mail direct to TLR. The tabulated results of this survey are then correlated with inputs from interviews to support the design of your training program. A second survey completed several months after the program can provide a measure of the impact of the program upon the organization. |

Option:using the Carlson DiSC ® Workstyle Inventory |
|
Work-style diversity is often an obstacle to effective collaboration. Groups that become conversant with a work-style model transform what can be as a communications roadblock into a communications tool. The fact that work-style diversity adds value to any collaborative endeavor can be experienced first hand on the challenge course. The DiSC allows people who have struggled to simply tolerate a unique personal style to gain an appreciation for the unique contributions that individual members make to the group. TLR recommends the use of the DiSC work-style inventory from Carlson Learning. The survey is one of the most successful and widely used personal and professional development instruments available today. It compares favorably with the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, which tends to focus more on personality than workstyle. The DiSC can be administered in a four-hour presentation at your site by TLR facilitators. |

Option:using Team Graphics |
|
This relatively new information technology makes meetings more productive by supporting the creation and dissemination of meeting content system-wide. Graphic recording captures the essential details of meeting results with images, color, key words and icons. The result is information made meaningful and accessible. The process begins with a graphic recorder working in the background of a meeting as shown in the graphic below. Active graphic recording during a meeting supports productivity by keeping the evolving dialogue in full view of the group. This allows group members to make connections between different ideas, correct the record on the spot when any statements are misinterpreted, and to have visual feedback as a means of controlling digressions or redundancy. Trains of thought that converge or diverge can lead a group to make sense of what might otherwise be a jumble of disconnected concerns or issues, or to gain creative, out-of-the box insights.
These records can be converted into a full color studio graphic suitable for scanning into an organization intranet, even display in a worker commons. The result of either of these strategies is broad dissemination of information, inclusion of workers otherwise excluded from direct participation, and effective feedback from people who get "the picture" in a way not possible using traditional meeting minutes or memos. |
